Powder daze

Tuesday, March 8th, 2016

March has come in like a lion and continues to roar as the North Cascades is resplendent with a continual coat of new snow almost daily. Conditions have been all time and with our operating season going to the 27th there is still time and availability for folks to come out to Mazama and get their share. Give us a call to arrange your trip into the white room. Got some if you need it…

Deep snowpack

Friday, February 5th, 2016

More snow falling tonight in Mazama as we continue to enjoy a deep snowpack and superb conditions. Do you like helicopters and untracked powder? How about an ocean of mesmerizing mountains where granite spires jut wildly above big alpine bowls waiting for you to drop into after a breathtaking ascent on a magic carpet ride? Do you need to disappear from the day to day and experience an adventure that pushes the fun meter off the charts?
We’d love to see you visit our little powder shredding operation at the end of the road in the Methow Valley.
Here’s to snowy nights and clear days!

Big snow day in Mazama

Tuesday, November 17th, 2015

Despite the forecast for 1-3 inches of snow followed by rain, we have lucked out here in Mazama and now have almost two feet of the white stuff out in open areas. Up at Washington Pass, the telemetry is showing over 50 inches of snow!!
What a great way to start out the season with a nice solid base.
If you haven’t made plans for a visit to our area and enjoy some helicopter-assisted powder turns in this stunning range of mountains, give us a call.

Winter’s return

Sunday, March 15th, 2015

Greetings, skiers and riders!
It is Sunday afternoon and it is snowing heavily in Mazama (2,200′) and expected to continue throughout the night with lowering temperatures. The report from the crew at the yurt (6,200′) is over a foot of low density snow has fallen and that the skiing is great. This indicates excellent snow surface conditions throughout our tenured area (elevations up to 8,600′).
With the biggest snowstorm of the year coating our plentiful North Cascades snowpack, the conditions will be excellent for the remaining two weeks of our season.
Even better news is that we have good availability for all our programs, including a few slots out at the yurt.
Are you desiring some powder turns in one of the most dramatic mountain ranges on the planet?
Give us a call. We got some if you need it.

Fun in the sun!

Tuesday, February 17th, 2015

If it can’t be over the head blower, it might as well be bomber corn in the sun. We’re blessed to have the best coverage in Washington and the fastest quad in the state. Thanks Larina for the great shot.

Fun pow and extended season

Monday, March 10th, 2014

The storms have finally abated and it’s time for powder and sunshine in the North Cascades. We have extended the season until March 26th. Come to Mazama and enjoy our deep snowpack.

The only scarcity around here is the lack of tracks, Jack.

Looking ahead to 2014

Saturday, March 23rd, 2013

Tomorrow is that somewhat bittersweet (more sweet than bitter) last day of operations for the 2013 season. Glad to be closing it out with deep pow, sunshine and happy guests!

Thanks to all the folks who made the trek to the end of the road to ski or ride with us this season. Also thanks to our sponsors: BCA, DaKine, Helly Hansen, K2 Skis , K2 Snowboarding, and Smith Optics. And our partners at the the Freestone Inn, Goat’s Beard Mountain Supplies, and of course, the Mazama Store who made sure no guest went hungry at lunch or at the yurt.

Cold March pow

Cold March pow

Looking ahead to 2014, we anticipate the 2014 season to run from January 24th to March 23rd, 2014. This shortened season is due to our user day issue. We’d like to run longer but that is not possible at this time nor may ever be.

In addition to the Barron yurt being sold out, many weekends in February and March are also sold out or close to it. Blackout dates for our heli programs are as follows:

February 4-6th, room for 1 group of 4 left

Feb 9-11th sold out

Feb 13-15th sold out

Feb 21-23 sold out

Feb 28-March 1 sold out

March 7-8 sold out

March 13-16 sold out

Don’t delay getting in touch if you are considering a trip to the North Cascades in 2014.
