We’ve been poking around on a variety of snow toys up in the mountains and have been able to get some turns in this past weekend up high. We have cold temps, so let’s keep doing the percipitation dance.

We were fortunate enough to have Dan Barth and the Outdoor Story Tellers crew from KLXY TV in Spokane here last season. The video story from Seamus is below- enjoy!
We are asked frequently if we do gift certificates and the answer is yes! All of our programs from the Nordic Super Tour to an exclusive use charter can be given as a gift certificate. We hear from many folks that giving the gift of a heli skiing or riding program elevated them to “best gift giver ever” status, forever remembered for giving a day of fantastic powder riding.
The way it works is that we create a certificate good for the 2008-2009 season and the lucky recipient can select from dates where we have a seat open- some flexibility is very helpful.
You can simply call the office 800-494-HELI (4354) and we can create one for you and either email you a PDF or send hard copy via snail mail. All standard NCH policies apply to gift certificates.
Just a reminder some of the NCH crew will be at the Seattle showing of Teton Gravity Research’s new film Under the Influence this Friday the 14th at Neumos in Seattle. Stop on by and say hi.
North Cascade Heli is proud to be co-offering a 4 day AIARE Level 2 Avalanche Training Course with North Cascades Mountain Guides this winter. The course will base out of the Heli ski yurt at Windy Pass near Indiana basin, high in the North Cascades. This location will allow us to work indoors in the morning and tour in the afternoon. The backcountry location will allow for optimal learning as well as some opportunities for some great skiing! Not to mention fully-catered meals, 4 days in remote setting and talented instructors. Due to the cost of heli flight, we will need 4 or 8 participants to allow the course to run at the advertised price of $1,200 per person, plus tax. Course dates are scheduled for February 6th-9th, 2009.
For detailed information on the course, curriculum, etc, please check this page NCMG Level 2
They also offer Level 1 Courses and re-freshers Level 1 Course.
When the clouds cleared this morning, we were delighted to see Goat Peak coated in a coat of white for the first time this season- always a good omen that winter has arrived. Forecasts are calling for 10″ in the North Cascades over the next few days and relatively cool temps. Keep up the snow dance.
